Default For PvEers: Introducing the New Wammo!

Introducing the new Wammo model for 2006! With a redesigned exterior and a lighter chassis, this new Wammo is guaranteed to frustrate monks from Tyria to Cantha. Ladies, Gentlemen and GW addicts, I give to you... The Assassin!

Seriously, I'm hoping this gets better. I know it's only day 4, but these guys drop like flies. Even with max armor they drop like flies. I know part of it is the players fault, hence my wammo scenario. Too many people that I've seen are playing Assassins like John Wayne tanks. At the same time... they do have melee weapons and skills based on melee. I think maybe a better armor class should be available to them, perhaps a hard compromise between ranger and warrior... and then add in the bonuses.

Right now we got a guy with caster armor fighting on the front line with a pair of kitchen knives. I know they can do massive damage, but at the rate they drop I'd settle for another Warrior who just does slightly massive damage and lives to tell about it.

That's the whole idea, they're supposed to drop like flies - these guys are glass cannons.

yeah it is absolutely the players fault. No time ever should an Assasin be up there with the wars at the start of a battle. there job is to stay in back until 10-15 seconds after the battle has started, then they can do all the dmg needed.

I did the first mission with 3 assassins in my party (I being a restoration magic Rt/Mo, I figured out that with no one making monks, I would get in parties in under ten seconds, and I was right ).

I can say the only reasons we survived the boss are weapon warding and union.

The assassins were constantly charging ahead, and I was always telling them to wait so that I could cast union, but no, they just charged ahead and I wasted 3 seconds of healing time casting that spirit. Or I didn't cast it at all and they health dropped really fast.

And intelligently played assassin can actually be good. If you see a ritualist in your party, ask him if he uses spirit (he most probably does). If so, a no attribute assassin spell that costs 5 allows you to shadow step to allied spririts. Please use it when you get low on health or when there seems to be too many monsters around you.

Please.

Even when I used the monk elite Life Sheath on the assassin in my party, his health still dropped like a rock.

When I comment that he was hard to heal, he said we were doing a good job. At that point I wanted to hit him upside the head and say, "That's because 2 monks and Mhenlo are bottoming out their energy trying to keep you alive."

I think people misunderstand the assassin.

His job isnt to always be up front attacking, the assassin should see a wounded target, shadow to the target, hit off a 4 hit combo, and then shadow away a few seconds later.

in short, his job is to fire off short bursts of high damage against a target.

(also, assassin+orders necro = Very quick death for squishies)

Assassin are not "meleers". Tainek got it right.
I barely started Factions' campaign and I already got my fair share of A/Mo or A/W who complain about the "monks" after they aggro'd every mob possible. I actually ask them what they played before, and 3 of them would say W/Mo... No kidding, I figured...

That's why I always nicely ask my party leader to kick all assassins and I leave and start my own party if he doesn't.

You aren't supposed to use them as tanks. its guerilla warfare out there. run in, hit like crazy with the combos them run back until they recharge and then run back. With many of the assassins skills this is made easy. its hard to master, but once you do it works wonders. trust me.

Assassins are not meant to take damage, hence he/she shouldn't be on the front lines. If they're just standing there getting whooped on they're not playing the class right. :<

its a shame, i reckon it could be really interesting to play an assassin. But I don't think I will with all the other wammo assassins

I'm incredibly disappointed with the assassin profession as a whole. Too little armor, not enough avoidance skills and a crappy primary attribute. Sounds like the warrior strength attribute all over again. I'm deleting my sin. I like my ritualist better.

With the first word out of your mouth you would get the boot. Same with the people who don't want to take Necros or Mesmers. Stupidity = boot.

So funny, all the people complaining becuase they don't know how to use the Assasin properly. "Too little armor"? 85 is too little for you? What armor are you wearing? Not to mention the fact that the Assasin is loaded with self heals, evasion skills, and the best kiting skills in the game.

If you're running in first with your A/W and using Dolyak Signet, well, that's your problem, not the class'.

90% of you are judging the whole class by how it behaves in the pre-searing area. If you can't keep up with a class that has no run skills, there's something wrong. Target+spacebar. Any good Assassins would be using Henchies, anyway, not pugging about.

After trying the second mission on the island with 3 assassins, who all thought "LOL I CAN TELEPORT LOZL" would save them, so they could rush on without me, their monk, I gave up.

So now I absolutely refuse assassins in my party. Period.
